Airport transfers and car service in Bremerton

Bremerton is the largest city in Kitsap County and home to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Naval Base Kitsap-Bremerton. It sits roughly 48 miles and 70 to 90 minutes from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, from $185 one way in a premium sedan. The route runs south on SR-3 through the SR-16 junction at Gorst, over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and up I-5. Gig Harbor Limo picks up door to door across downtown, Manette, East and West Bremerton, Charleston, Navy Yard City, Kitsap Lake and Illahee.

Bremerton has three water connections to Seattle and none of them helps much with the airport. The Washington State Ferries car crossing takes about 60 minutes; the Kitsap Transit fast ferry takes about 28 but is passenger only, and either one lands you downtown still 30 to 45 minutes short of Sea-Tac. For a flight, driving round is the answer. For downtown Seattle it is the opposite, and we will say so: the fast ferry is quicker and cheaper than anything we can sell you, so we run you to the Bremerton Transportation Center for $45 instead. Arrivals include flight tracking and 30 minutes of complimentary wait. Call 253-333-0265.

Honest routing

Ferry or drive, by where you are going

Bremerton is unusual in having a genuinely good public option for some journeys and a genuinely poor one for others. Rather than quoting you a car for everything, here is what we would actually do for each destination, including the two cases where the answer is that you do not need us for the whole trip.

Recommended routing from Bremerton by destination, with what we would charge for our part of it. Ferry times and fares are current as published and change regularly.
Where you are goingWhat we would doWhyOur part, from
Sea-Tac AirportDrive around via GorstEither ferry lands you downtown, still 30 to 45 minutes short of the airport, after a 28 to 60-minute crossing$185
Downtown Seattle, daytimeRun you to the ferry terminalThe fast ferry is 28 minutes and a couple of dollars walking on. We cannot beat that and will not pretend to$45
Seattle cruise piersEither, depending on bagsPier 66 is a short run from Colman Dock, but a week of luggage is not a walk-on trip$45 plus $95, or $245
Seattle event at nightDrive aroundLast sailings are earlier than most people assume, and a missed boat at 11pm is a very long night$240
Tacoma, JBLM, PuyallupDrive, no ferry involvedAll of it is south over the Narrows Bridge and the water is the wrong direction entirely$140

The Kitsap Transit fast ferry is passenger only, so no vehicle and no large luggage trolleys, and it runs a commuter-weighted schedule rather than an all-day one. Washington State Ferries carries vehicles on the same route in about 60 minutes. Both change schedules and fares seasonally, so check Kitsap Transit and Washington State Ferries rather than relying on this page.

Why we tell you to take the boat

A car to downtown Seattle from Bremerton is 70 miles round the water and costs about $240. The fast ferry is 28 minutes and the walk-on fare is a rounding error. Selling you the car instead would be taking money for a worse journey, and you would work that out the first time you tried it.

What we are useful for is the part the ferry cannot do: getting you and your bags from Illahee or Kitsap Lake to the Bremerton Transportation Center at 6am, and being there when you come back at half past ten at night. That is a $45 booking and it is the right one.

Departure timing and Gorst

What time to leave, and which way Gorst is bad

Gorst is where SR-3 and SR-16 meet at the base of Sinclair Inlet on roads laid out in 1964, carrying tens of thousands of commuters a day. The useful detail is that it is directional: WSDOT records the northbound approach as the problem in the morning peak and the southbound as the problem in the afternoon. Since a Bremerton airport run goes southbound, the morning is on your side and the late afternoon is not.

Recommended pickup times from a Bremerton address for a domestic departure from Sea-Tac, with the Gorst condition to expect at that hour. Times are typical rather than guaranteed.
Flight departsAt the curb byPickup in BremertonGorst at that hour
6:00 am4:00 am2:15 amEmpty in both directions
9:00 am7:00 am5:15 amSouthbound clear, the queue is coming the other way
Noon10:00 am8:15 amSouthbound usually fine, northbound at its worst
4:00 pm2:00 pm12:15 pmAhead of the southbound build-up
8:00 pm6:00 pm4:15 pmStraight into the southbound peak, so we pad it

Pickup times already carry a buffer, and dispatch will move one earlier if the corridor looks wrong on the morning. The reverse applies coming home: a northbound run back through Gorst between about 6 and 9am is the slow one, which is worth knowing if you are landing on a red-eye. Send us the flight number and we will confirm a time for your address rather than for the centre of town.

Coming home

Your inbound is tracked from the moment it pushes back at the origin gate, so a delay or an early landing moves the pickup automatically and nobody sits on a meter. Airport arrivals include 30 minutes of complimentary wait time from touchdown, and you get a text with the exact door and island when you land. Meet and greet at baggage claim with a name board is a $50 add-on.

Early and late

A 2am pickup for an 0600 departure is a routine booking here rather than an exception, and so is a collection at half past midnight when a ship comes alongside late. Dispatch is staffed overnight and vehicles stage locally, so the earliest and latest slots on the board are the ones we are used to filling.

A city that runs on shift work and sailings

Which is why the useful thing here is not a fancier car. It is somebody answering the phone at two in the morning and knowing which way Gorst is going.

Rates and distances

Where we go from Bremerton

Transfers are quoted point to point rather than by the hour, so a fifteen-minute run to the ferry terminal is not billed against a two-hour minimum. Distances are measured from central Bremerton and vary by your exact address.

Fares are one way for one or two passengers and include fuel, taxes, tolls and the Narrows Bridge crossing. A luxury SUV adds roughly $35 and a ten-passenger Sprinter van roughly $75. Casino trips, tasting tours and nights out are booked hourly rather than point to point, because the chauffeur waits on site. Pickups before 5am and peak travel dates may carry a surcharge, shown before you confirm. See the full fleet and rates.

Beyond the airport

Other Bremerton bookings

Airport and ferry work is most of it, but the same vehicles cover the rest of what the city books a chauffeur for.

Formals and the Navy Ball

October fills up fast. Wardroom and ship's company groups to a formal, usually a party bus or a pair of stretches, with individual drop-offs at the end so nobody drives. Nights out.

Weddings and guest shuttles

The Kitsap Conference Center at Bremerton Harborside and the venues out toward Silverdale and Port Orchard, with shuttles between hotel and venue so guests are not driving Kitsap back roads at night. Wedding transport.

Taproom and casino trips

Der Blokken in Manette, Silver City up in Silverdale, the Poulsbo breweries, or south to Little Creek and Lucky Dog. Booked hourly, chauffeur waits at every stop, 21 and over. Casino and tasting trips.

Corporate and contractor accounts

Recurring runs for visiting engineers and contractors, billed to a company account with cost codes on the invoice rather than to somebody's personal card. Corporate service.

What Kitsap clients say

★★★★★

Quarter past two in the morning pickup from Manette for a six o'clock out of Sea-Tac. Car was early, driver took the seabag, and I slept most of the way. Booked them for the return before I even landed.

Rang to book a car into Seattle and they told me to take the fast ferry instead and just have them run me to the terminal. Saved me about two hundred dollars. That is why I keep calling them.

Flew my parents in for a homecoming and the ship was six hours late, then late again. They tracked the whole thing and nobody charged us for waiting. Genuinely kind about it too.

Bremerton transfer questions

How far is Bremerton from Sea-Tac Airport

About 48 miles and 70 to 90 minutes. The route runs south on SR-3 through the SR-16 junction at Gorst, over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge and up I-5. Neither ferry helps for an airport run: the Washington State Ferries crossing takes about 60 minutes and the Kitsap Transit fast ferry about 28, and both land you in downtown Seattle still 30 to 45 minutes short of Sea-Tac.

How much is a car from Bremerton to Sea-Tac

From $185 one way in a premium sedan for one or two passengers, quoted point to point rather than against an hourly minimum. A luxury SUV adds roughly $35 and a ten-passenger Sprinter van roughly $75. The fare includes fuel, taxes, tolls and the Narrows Bridge crossing. Pickups before 5am and peak travel dates may carry a surcharge, which is shown before you confirm.

Should I take the ferry or have you drive me

Depends where you are going, and we will tell you honestly. For Sea-Tac, we drive, because the ferry leaves you downtown well short of the airport. For downtown Seattle in the daytime, take the fast ferry, which is about 28 minutes and a couple of dollars walking on. Nothing we can sell beats that, so we run you to the Bremerton Transportation Center for $45 instead. For a Seattle event at night we drive, because the last sailings are earlier than most people expect.

What time should I be picked up for a morning flight

For a 9am domestic departure from a Bremerton address, 5:15 am, working back from a 7am curb arrival with a buffer for SR-3, Gorst and the Narrows. A 6am flight means a pickup around 2:15 am, which is a routine booking here. Add an hour for an international departure. Send us the flight number and we will confirm a time for your actual address.

How bad is Gorst, really

Bad, but directional, which is the useful part. WSDOT records the northbound approach as the problem during the morning peak and the southbound as the problem in the afternoon. An airport run from Bremerton goes southbound, so a morning departure runs against the queue and a late-afternoon one runs into it. Coming home northbound between about 6 and 9am is the slow direction. Pickup times already account for this and dispatch checks the live map on the morning.

Do you do early morning and overnight pickups for the shipyard

Yes, and they are routine rather than exceptional. Dispatch is staffed 24 hours a day and vehicles stage locally, so a 0200 pickup for an 0600 departure or a collection at half past midnight when a ship comes alongside late are both normal bookings. You get the vehicle, chauffeur name and a direct mobile number by text before the night, which matters more at that hour than at any other.

Can you drive onto Naval Base Kitsap

Unless it has been arranged in advance, no. The vehicle drops at the gate or the visitor centre. Tell us at booking if you need something different and we will tell you honestly what is possible rather than promising and failing at the gate. Chauffeur names can be supplied ahead where a sponsor or a pass is required, and the same applies at Bangor.

Can you collect family flying in for a homecoming

Yes, and flight tracking is the point. Your inbound is watched from the moment it pushes back at the origin gate, so a delay or an early landing moves the pickup automatically. Airport arrivals include 30 minutes of complimentary wait from touchdown, and meet and greet at baggage claim with a name board is a $50 add-on, which is worth it for grandparents who have never used Sea-Tac.

Which parts of Bremerton do you serve

All of it, door to door: downtown and the waterfront, Manette and East Bremerton out along Wheaton Way to Illahee and Tracyton, and West Bremerton, Charleston, Navy Yard City, Kitsap Lake and Rocky Point. Silverdale, Poulsbo, Port Orchard and Belfair are all regular coverage too.

Do you run groups for the Navy Ball and formals

Yes, and October books out early. Wardroom and ship's company groups usually take a party bus for 20 to 30 or a pair of stretch limousines, with individual drop-offs at the end so nobody drives home from a formal. Every passenger must be 21 or over on a booking where alcohol is on board. Reserve six to eight weeks out for anything in October or December.

Do you handle contractor and company accounts

Yes. Recurring runs for visiting engineers, contractors and management are set up on a company account, charged to the company rather than a personal card, with itemised receipts and one monthly invoice carrying purchase order or cost codes. Rates are fixed at booking and never surge. See corporate service.

How far in advance should I book

Forty-eight hours is usually enough for a sedan or SUV transfer, and longer for a Sprinter, a group booking or a holiday weekend. October and December are the tightest months here because of formals and company parties. Same-day is often possible since dispatch runs around the clock, so call 253-333-0265 even at short notice.

Book your Bremerton transfer

Send the flight number and your address and we will confirm a pickup time and a fare. If a ferry would serve you better than a car, we will say that instead. Dispatch answers 24 hours a day, including the two in the morning bookings.
